Emirates SkyCargo is now accepting both inbound and outbound cargo through Heathrow Airport, following a fire at the Servisair facility it uses.
Export cargo is being accepted at ground handler Plane Handling’s Heathrow facility at Radius Park, while imports are being processed by Plane Handling at West Point. “There are some temporary restrictions on the volume and type of export cargo, and no transfer cargo to or from other carriers is currently being accepted. It is hoped that these restrictions will be removed within the next two to three days,” Emirates said.
Meanwhile, Servisair said it was checking the facility today after which more information on when services would resume would be announced.
The blaze broke out on Friday afternoon with reports suggesting it started when a forklift truck caught fire.
