Lufthansa Cargo (LC) has added a new generation of cooling containers to its portfolio to help it increase market share in the temperature-controlled segment.
LC claimed its new Opticooler container offered greater reliability than other models, by keeping temperatures low using compressor technology requiring just electricity, rather than dry ice. The fact it only used electricity also meant it was “ideal” for transporting goods that must not come into contact with carbon dioxide, Lufthansa said. The Opticooler also records container temperature throughout the transport operation and makes that information available to customers.
Andreas Otto, LC Board Member for Product and Sales, said: “Business with temperature-sensitive freight has grown strongly, in defiance even of the global economic crisis in 2009. “We have tailored the container to suit individual customer requirements. In that way, we guarantee fast and flexible service, paired with topmost safety and reliability.”
