Air and Ocean Freight volume

Equinox

Air Freight

Length x Breadth x Height (CMS) / 6000 x Number of Cartons = Volume Weight of the Shipment

Length x Breadth x Height  (Inches) / 366 x Number of Cartons = Volume Weight of the Shipment

Air Freight is calculated based on the gross weight of the shipment or volume weight which ever is higher.

To arrive at volume from weight the normal computation is 1 M3 = 167 Kgs

Ocean Freight

Length / 100 x Breadth / 100 x Height / 100 (CMS) = CBM (Volume) per Carton

When a Ocean shipment is Less than a Container load, Freight is calculated on per Ton basis or per CBM basis, the higher of the two.

However, where the Ocean Freight has inland movement, the consolidator could compute & charge inland haulage on the basis of 1 CBM = 333 Kgs. However, this distinction is not visible on the Freight charges that consolidators provider as they are already incorporated into the Freight charges which are to the final discharge point unless otherwise informed.
