THE Federation of Indian Export Organizations (Fieo) has urged the Union government to immediately make alternative arrangements to speed up export clearances from the under-renovation Indira Gandhi International Airport.
In a statement, Mr J.K. Jain, Fieo Vice-President, stressed that alternative arrangements should be made for export clearance of the goods so as to avoid delays in their airlifting.
According to Mr. Jain, the renovation work has resulted in hundreds of vehicles waiting in the parking area outside the airport. "Carted cargo is taking 3-4 days to go inside and is waiting to be offloaded at the platform area for Customs clearances, leading to 10-12 days delay in airlifting a shipment", he said.
