This is to inform you that during later course of previous week there was a minor accident that occurred in the installation process of new cranes.
The new RMQs after being offloaded at NSICT were being shifted from the said terminal to JNPT and while moving the same it collided with another crane that was already integrated at NSICT which has added to the woes of congestion, diversion of traffic and deteriorated operational activities at said terminals.
Further it has deeply affected the move count too at both terminals and 2 Quay cranes is currently not functional causing a sever slow down impacting productivity of the port.
Situation of early gate closures without any prior notification, berthing delay and vessels omitting its call is being experienced as the same is implemented by concern authorities due to deficiency in resources for accommodating heavy loads.
GTI not being a large terminal is equipped with limited operational requirements and will not be able handle the spill overs of JNPT and NSICT with current constrains already being faced leading to delays.
