THE European Union (EU) has been raising non-tariff barriers like labelling and certification against India's textiles and garment exports, according to the Commerce Ministry.
In a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, the Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Mr. Jyotiraditya Scindia, said, "EU has been raising protective barriers against textiles and garments exports from India through non-tariff barriers such as labelling, certification and REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemical Substances)."
