Cargo theft is the number one concern for businesses involved in the supply chain, according to a survey by logistics security specialist Freight watch.

The survey revealed that nearly 75 per cent of respondents believed the impact of cargo crime on the supply chain was major or moderate issue.

At least 81 per cent cited large-scale, full truckload (FTL) theft as a concern, and this was followed by less than full truckload (LTL) cargo theft (58 per cent) and vendor security compliance, tied in equal third place with warehouse burglary (54 per cent).

Also featuring in the top 10 list was government regulations and product traceability, both of which were cited by just over 40 per cent of respondents. Other threats such as terrorism appear to be fading as concerns, mentioned by just 11 per cent of supply chain professionals.
